South Dakota
The “card check” legislation making its way through Congress would redefine the definition of “secret ballots” in South Dakota. Threatening the fundamental right of individuals to vote by secret ballot in South Dakota is the result of passing the Employee Free Choice Act, otherwise known as “card check”.
You can stop this Congressional power grab and preserve your right to vote by secret ballot in South Dakota!
Save our Secret Ballot South Dakota is organizing a campaign to amend South Dakota’s Constitution to declare that no matter how Congress defines “secret ballot”, South Dakotans will conduct our elections by secret ballot.
We propose to amend these words into the South Dakota Constitution:
"The right of individuals to vote by secret ballot is fundamental. If any state or federal law requires or permits an election for public office, for any initiative or referendum, or for any designation or authorization of employee representation, the right of any individual to vote by secret ballot in any such election shall be guaranteed."
Don’t let Congress steal our hard fought right to vote by secret ballot.

Your financial contribution of $35, $50 or $100 will help to place this amendment on the 2010 General Election ballot and it will help to promote the amendment to the voters of South Dakota.
Senator Johnson and Representative Herseth Sandlin support “card check”.
Senator Thune voted against “card check” in 2008 and is leading the opposition to it in 2009. As “card check” moves through Congress again,
Senator Johnson and Representative Herseth Sandlin need to hear from you.
Call or write or email them and ask them to vote “for” for the fundamental right to a secret ballot and “against” the Employee Free Choice Act, “card check”.
One of the cornerstones of America’s liberty is under attack. Preserve your right to vote by secret ballot. Support Save our Secret Ballot South Dakota today.
Thank you.
